Graduate Research

Research interests grounded in field experience.

I am interested in Graduate Research Assistantship opportunities where my civil engineering experience can support research in resilient transportation or post-fire structural assessment, repair and rehabilitation.

GRA focus 01 · Transportation

Mountain & Resilient Transportation Infrastructure

My transportation interests come directly from working on infrastructure in Nepal's steep and difficult terrain.

Why this area interests me

I have seen how slope, drainage, alignment, access and construction conditions influence transportation work in mountainous areas. I want to study practical ways to make roads, trails and related infrastructure more sustainable and resilient to natural hazards and climate-related stresses.

  • Mountain and Himalayan transportation infrastructure
  • Sustainable road and trail systems
  • Drainage, runoff and water-sensitive infrastructure
  • Resilience to landslides, intense rainfall and other natural hazards

GRA focus 02 · Post-Fire / Structural

Post-Fire Assessment, Repair & Rehabilitation

My post-fire project experience has given me a practical starting point for research on existing structures and extreme-hazard resilience.

Experience foundation

With IOECS, I contributed to detailed post-fire assessments of 44 government buildings. My work included field investigation, non-destructive and semi-destructive testing, carbonation and core testing, damage classification, ETABS modeling, repair and retrofit recommendations, cost estimation and technical reporting.

  • Primary interest: assessment, repair and rehabilitation of existing structures
  • Primary interest: structural resilience to extreme hazards
  • Supporting interests: material behavior, diagnostics and monitoring
For faculty & research groups

I am looking for research environments where field experience can become useful research.

I am particularly interested in working with faculty and research groups studying resilient transportation, infrastructure in mountainous regions, post-fire structural behaviour, repair and rehabilitation, or related civil engineering problems.
